Sound The Alarm

“Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of YHWH is coming.”

Joel 2:1

In my building, like many other residential buildings, there is the presence of a fire alarm.

As you can see, there are instructions: “sound the alarm.”

This time of year, many of us are unfamiliar with the spiritual alarm going on.

Many of us are unaware because we are not tapped into The Old Testament.

We may be Christians for our entire lives, ticking off all the boxes of our faith. We fully embrace The NEW TESTAMENT.

We have our Savior, יֵשׁוּעַ‎.

Some of you already may be bewildered, offended, or taking issue with how I just described our Savior.

And that leads BACK to The Old Testament.

(Please check out the Hebrew alphabet, and hunt for the letter, “J”).

“Do not suppose that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill.”

Matthew 5:17

I encourage you to take Matthew 5:17 into deep reflection.

It is precisely why the Power of blowing the Shofar, keeping The Feasts, like Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur alive in our lives, and, more fully, embracing The Old Testament as just as relevant as The New Testament in our daily lives.

“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month, on the first of the month, it shall be to you a complete rest, a memorial of shouting, a holy convocation.
Leviticus 23:24

Blowing the Shofar is about more than return, rest; and Memorial; it is ALSO about Victory!

“And seven priests shall bear the seven shofars of rams before the face of the ark. And the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow on the shofars. And it shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the horn of the ram, in your hearing the voice of the shofar, that all the people shall shout with a great shout. And the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people will go up, every man straight before Him.”

Joshua 6:4-5

This time of year, we are brought back to focus on Him, should we choose to do so.

It is a choice. Free will.

What will you do with yours?

“…You shall make the shofar to sound throughout all your land.”

Leviticus 25:9

There ARE blessings attached to this Holy Sound, This Holy Remembrance.

Let’s pray.

Abba,

I come to You, through Our Shepherd.

Your only begotten Son, Our Savior, יֵשׁוּעַ‎.

You know where I’m at right now.

You know exactly how I need to return to you.

You know how I need to get closer to You.

You know how warning, remembrance, and victory play out in my life.

Forgive me for not heeding You.

I turn- I return- to You now.

I hear Your Call.

Help me, heal me, and guide me to get closer to You.

I need Your Help.

Thank You for loving me enough to send out the call: My Savior.

You loved me that much, to not just send Him, but sacrifice Him, for all my sins.

I receive You now, more fully.

Thank You.

Amen.
